Sky Rats' first album 'Raised to the Ground' was released in 2005 and has been likened to Foo Fighters, Nickelback, Greenday and Chris Rea.
The song 'Don't Look in the Trunk' was awarded a Runner up spot in
the UK Songwriting Competition 2007 and continues to perplex and
entertain listeners with its film like story of an accidental murder
and the main character's desperate attempt to dispose of the body.
Other topics explored lyrically include politics, smoking, religion and
a prostitute looking for a mortgage. Rock in genre.
The second album 'Unlucky for Some' was released in 2007 and a
number of songs have been placed in the top ten of various
international competitions. Subjects such as drinking, partying,
journalism and girlie mags occupy the lyrical content here. Again the
genre is firmly in the Rock area.
Sky Rats' third album released in 2010 adopts a different sound.
More acoustic with idiosyncratic beats and a wider range of
instrumentation makes for a much cooler, laid back feel - Jason Myraz
vs Paul Simon? Lyrical content ranges from apprehension about a first
child through to a put upon wife throwing the errant husband's
belongings out of the window (including his Apple Mac!) just as he
arrives home after a night on the razzle.
Many of Sky Rats' tracks are selling well and regulary chart on a number of sites such as Noisehead.com and Ooizit .com.
